The Russian Crab Group of Companies Announces the Expansion of Its Fishing Geography
The Russian Crab Group of Companies announces the expansion of its fishing operations and the start of work in the Barents Sea. Beginning August 12, 2025, the company will start harvesting 4,800 tons of Red King Crab in the Barents Sea. This new volume was added to the group’s portfolio following the 2025 investment auctions held by The Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo), where four lots for crab harvesting were secured, along with investment commitments to build three modern crab-catching vessels and a large logistics complex.
«We see diversifying our fishing geography as a factor that strengthens business resilience and opens up opportunities for its development,» said Sergey Goryachev, CEO of the Russian Crab Group. We’re ready to take on these new volumes, supported by the capacity of our new fleet and the expertise we’ve gained from our work in the Far East
Fishing in the Barents Sea will be carried out by four vessels, including the new crabber-processors «Captain Manzholin», «Captain Dudnik» and «Captain Skovpen», built at the Oksk Shipyard as a par of the first stage of the investment quotas program.
The Russian Crab Group has extensive successful experience fishing in seas with challenging hydrometeorological conditions. Over the past five years, it has consistently men the 97-99% of its quotas, despite external factors and rapid production growth.
Operations in this new area will be managed by the company’s Murmansk division.
